In 1942 a young Julio González took a loan to open La Primavera in Atotonilco el Alto, in the Los Altos highlands, and built Mexico's original luxury tequila; Diageo owns it today, still made at NOM 1449. The 1942 is the añejo aged two and a half years in ex-bourbon oak — 12x75's butterscotch, caramel, dark chocolate, and toasted oak, the flex bottle. The Primavera is a reposado finished in orange-wine casks — all blossom and citrus, a seasonal release that Agave Matchmaker's fans call the finest tequila they've had. The Rosado is a reposado finished in Ruby Port casks from Portugal's Douro — pink, with red fruit and florals.
